Now booking trips for the 2010 fall crappie season...Call today to reserve your dates!

Crappie fishing is poor....  We are in the middle of the hot summer and the crappie fishing is slow on Weiss Lake. There have been a few anglers out trying to beat the heat by fishing from daylight until about mid morning or trying their luck at night fishing under the lights. The day fishermen are fishing deep along the channel ledges with live bait while the night fishermen are fishing live bait under floats around the docks. Both of these are producing a few crappie with stringers up to about 15 keepers on a good trip. If you are fishing the channel ledges, use your electronics to locate the stumps and brush piles and fish them really slow. The bite is extremely light so you better have the rod in your hand or you will never know the fish hit. It is hard to feel it then but if you leave it in a rod holder chances are you will miss the fish. The key to catching a few this time of year is fishing really slow! The fishing is going to be slow for a little while longer but should start to pick up as we get closer to the fall season. The weather should start to cool off and the crappie will start feeding up for the winter so be ready for the fall season that should get started around the end of September. The fall crappie season will continue through November. I am already booking up for the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 crappie seasons so give me a call ASAP to reserve your dates! If you head to the lake over the next few weeks be sure to drink plenty of fluids and head for the house when it starts getting hot! Remember there is a 10 inch size limit on crappie on Weiss Lake and your daily creel limit is 30 per person, per day...Good Fishin to All"
